I was supposed to post this a looong time ago but wasn’t able to do so..but hey, it’s better late than never..hehe..
As the start of the second semester of school year ’06-07, I was really expecting that there would be a lot of things to do – in school, at home and in my life. But I wasn’t expecting this big. I mean, I wasn’t able to do the things that I used to do. Such as reading a book, well, yeah I’m reading but not the book I used to read. The whole semester, I was reading the book of Visual Basic 6.0 and many other books pertaining to programming. I was not able to watch movies as well or even draw. And even the website I promised to develop for my best friend. Naks! (tol, soon. I’m going to start doing what I promised. Wala kasi internet sa house. Pag meron na ha..) I wasn’t able to get enough sleep as well..why? secret!=p
My subjects last second semester were all about developing this and that. Waaah! If you can only understand what I was talking about..=’( I have Advadb (Advance Database Systems) and SoftEng (Software Engineering). Both subjects required us to develop a software. For example: Inventory System, Enrollment System, Hotel and Restaurant Billing System and many others. My group had chosen to develop a software for a church organization. The software is Information and Accounting System. My groupmates and I was very confident that we’ll be able to finish the software in no time. We were given so much time to finish it, I think. 5 months to develop a smooth running software..That was the time the professors gave us to finish the system. I was very confident at first because I thought with my past experiences in developing a software / system, I’d be able to finish it alone. Well, I was wrong about that. Over-confident? Maybe. Carelessness? It might be. I overlooked on so many things. First, my groupmates don’t know much about on how to create modules for a system. For example: file manipulation, archiving and many others. According to them, they’re professor taught them mostly on string manipulation, looping statements and others. So they had a hard time digesting all the new information they got on Visual Basic. Another thing was the different approach in coding the forms and modules. Before, I use “adodc”. Now, its “ADODB”. So I had to study on it as well. To make the long story short, I was developing the system and studying it at the same time. I am the lead programmer that’s why I did most of the contributions on the software. My group had to do some researches and download this and that. Waaaah! What a life in IT!
It was very exhausting as I can remember. We had to do overnights to finish the system. That overnight didn’t include sleeping. Too bad. Wasn’t it? We had to study the system while developing it. The girls got the most eyebags among the group. I thought it was really unfair on our part. But who says everything is fair? No one. In every road you take, in every life you chose to live, fair is not there. In my opinion, there is nothing fair in this world. I think my groupmates already know what I meant. Right guys? Hehehe..
After a long and winding road, we were able to finish the system. Although it debbuged more than 10 times during defense day. We were still thankful that the panelists gave us some considerations on it. Hah! I was also exempted on program testing but I had to revise the software since I was the lead programmer. Then the documents came in second. We had to let the respective people involve on the subjects sign the documents including the panelists. Whew! We were relieved when the panelist signed the documents without seeing the revised software. We just got lucky!=p
It was a self-fulfillment for me and that I able to develop a system again but this time it was almost finish. It just need a little revisions. AGAIN! I may say it had been a long and winding road este codes!=p
